A Moonstruck History...
Short version:
Moonstruck Theater Company Inc. was founded in April 2006 by a group of students who love creating live theater.Long version:
Moonstruck Theater Company Inc. has been several years in the making. Caroline Fonseca had thought about
starting a theater company in the community for several years now, but just never got around to it. But as
she procrastinated writing papers for her theatre history class, she thought: "Wouldn't it be great to have an entirely student-run theatre organization to produce the shows they've always wanted to do? Central Massachusetts doesn't have anything like this. We could start a company where students act, direct, and produce great live theater -- both musical AND dramatic." With the help of a great number of talented people, Moonstruck has become a reality.
Before long, it was
clear that in order to create the most professional productions
possible, and a few people came on board. Today, Caroline Fonseca
serves as the Artistic Director of the company and manages the
creative aspects
of the company. The business side of Moonstruck is now overseen by
Stephen Ursprung, who, as Executive Director, deals with important
paperwork, marketing, publicity, and other administrative
responsibilities. Cassandra Allen, who is also Moonstruck's resident
Technical Director, serves as Financial Director and also helps Stephen
manage some of the administrative duties. Aimee Lanning has also
become a member of the Moonstruck Board of Directors and she takes
charge of the Andes Pit Theatre as Run Crew Chief every year.
Our
mission is to educate anyone who wants to learn about the wonderful
world of theater. If you want to choreograph, you go for it! Acting is
only an audition away. Lighting design? Come on down! The only way to
learn theater is to DO IT and get involved in real productions. We aim
to do what we love and create some memorable productions and
experiences along the way.
